AMC 2 Wharf Deck Infill

Project Overview

With the completion of the northward extension of Berth 1 (AMC 1) in early 2023, attention turned to optimising the efficiency and functionality of Berth 2, known as AMC 2.

AMC 2 originally served as a berthing structure situated approximately 25 meters from the shoreline. Through the infill of the open area of approximately 1,000 square meters, Geomarine transformed the berthing infrastructure into a continuous wharf deck, which has increased the wharf’s versatility for users.

AMC 2 Wharf Deck Infill project involved the design and construction of a new deck structure consisting of driven tubular steel pile foundations, supporting precast reinforced concrete beams, and deck planks with an in-situ concrete slab topping.

Scope of works

The scope of works includes:

  • Complete the detailed design of the new deck structure, including integration of existing services and minor service improvements
  • Demolish and dispose obsolete infrastructure within the AMC area, such as fencing and gangways
  • Demolish existing seawater pump station building, including removal of pumps and piping

  • Supply and install precast concrete reinforced beams and planks
  • Complete in-situ concrete works to precast beams, which were originally installed as hollow tub-like structures to minimize weight and streamline lifting operations
  • Complete in-situ concrete pouring to create the final concrete topping slab for the finished deck surface
  • Reinstate pre-existing electrical and hydraulic services
  • Remove old cathodic protection system and install upgraded system
  • Supply and install 3no. removable 80t rated bollards and support frames
  • Supply and install new removable handrail system along the existing wharf edge
  • Supply, install and commission new fire hydrant to cover the new construction
