Onslow Iron Project (OIP) – Quick Mud Creek Bridge Piling Works

Project Overview

The project at Quick Mud Creek involved the driving and drilling out of 20 steel pile casings, placement of reinforcement cages and concrete filling for the bridge foundations.

Working from a piling platform prepared by the main contractor, Geomarine was responsible for driving the piles design-level and conducting initial PDA (Pile Driving Analysis) load tests to determine the piles’ load capacity. After proving the capacity, the casings were then drilled, steel reinforcement cages installed, and the concrete tremie poured within each pile.

Following completion of pile installation, a further set of PDA tests were conducted on five completed piles to prove their load capacity. Additionally, a series of integrity tests were performed to ensure the concrete pours met high standards of quality and to verify the overall effectiveness of the foundation’s installation.
